What to Expect
Starting therapy can feel uncertain, especially if you’ve never been before. My aim is to make the process clear, respectful, and grounded from the very beginning, so you can focus on what you need rather than worrying about what to expect.
Your First Session
Our first session is a chance for you to talk about what’s bringing you to therapy and what you hope to change or understand. I’ll ask some gentle questions to help us explore your story, but there’s no pressure to share anything before you’re ready. It’s also a space for you to get a sense of whether I’m the right therapist for you.
How Sessions Feel
Sessions are led by what matters to you. Some weeks you may have a clear focus; other weeks you may simply need space to talk and make sense of what you’re feeling. I offer a balance of listening, reflection, and gentle challenge where it’s helpful, always at a pace that feels manageable.
My role is to help you understand your patterns, your emotions, and the parts of yourself that may have been pushed aside. Therapy can feel warm, grounding, and sometimes uncomfortable — but always held with care.
Structure and Pace
We meet once a week for 50 minutes, either in person or online. Regularity helps create a sense of stability and momentum, especially when working with deeper emotional patterns. How long you stay in therapy depends on your needs, some people come for a short period, others work longer-term.
What You Don’t Need to Prepare
You don’t need to plan what to say or come with a clear agenda. Many people arrive not knowing exactly where to start — that’s completely normal. We’ll find the right entry point together.
Confidentiality and Boundaries
Everything you share is held in confidence, and your privacy is respected at all times. I work within the BACP ethical framework, which means our sessions are professional, safe, and consistent.
Is This Approach Right for You?
Therapy can be a space to understand yourself, explore your identity, work through trauma or loss, or make sense of long-standing patterns. If you’re unsure whether this approach fits what you need, you’re welcome to get in touch for a brief conversation.
